The restoration of AEC Reliance CDK172L

Project Dairy March 2008

March          After missing a couple of weekends due to the day job getting in the way, Easter has been our first work visit this month.

Braving the freezing cold temperatures and the snow on the ground manual work was the order of the day, just to keep warm! Steve cracked on with the repairs to the radiator fan cowling carefully cutting out rotten bits and welding in new steel. By  the end of Sunday it was finished, painted and awaiting refitting.

Sharing the work bench, Richard got down to tackling the replacement of the rear end wood work - virtually all the original wood has disintegrated, leaving much guesswork and head scratching in trying to re-create what should be there.

It's a good job we took plenty of photos with it in situ before dismantling it!
